Bone Solutions Inc. appoints orthopedic surgeon, Nancy Lynch, M.D., of Scale Venture Partners to its Scientific Advisory Board
DALLAS--(Business Wire)--
Bone Solutions Inc. (BSI) announced today that it has appointed Nancy Lynch, M.D., to its Scientific Advisory Board, effective immediately. Dr. Lynch is a Principal with Scale Venture Partners, based in Foster City, Calif.
"This addition of Dr. Lynch to our SAB represents an important milestone for BSI, in light of Dr. Lynch's stature as both a distinguished physician and a leading investor in the orthobiologics sector," said Tony Copp, Ph.D., Chief Operating Officer of Bone Solutions Inc.
A Board-certified orthopaedic surgeon, Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), and fellowship-trained hand surgeon with several years of clinical practice experience, Dr. Lynch began her career with Orthopedic Healthcare Northwest in Eugene, Ore. Before joining Scale Venture Partners in 2006, she earned her MBA with a concentration in Health Sector Management at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business. She completed her residency, serving as Chief
Resident, at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine and her fellowship at the Indiana Hand Center. Dr. Lynch graduated from the Washington
University School of Medicine. She holds a BA in Pre-professional Studies and Psychology from the University of Notre Dame and is a member of IrishAngels, Notre Dame's network supporting entrepreneurial endeavors and new venture development.
"Over the last five years, we have seen significant advances in products designed to stimulate bone growth. These products have been
particularly useful for spine surgery, but are gaining traction in other challenging bone healing indications," said Dr. Lynch. "We'll continue to see innovation as we learn more about how patients respond to the products available today. I'm pleased to be joining the BSI Scientific Advisory Board, where I expect to work with the team on the development of the company's product portfolio and provide an orthopaedic surgeon's perspective on current and future product
applications."
About Bone Solutions Inc.
Bone Solutions Inc. ('BSI') has designed its BioHesive(TM) platform as the 'one stop bone-, tendon- and ligament-injectable, biodegradable adhesive technology' for surgeries at hospitals, clinics and other private surgical centers within the orthopaedic industry. The Company believes it is revolutionizing a new solution for orthopaedic surgeons for both human and veterinary uses with a magnesium-based compound that is designed to adhere--for the first time in orthopaedic medical history--bone to bone, as well as
ligaments and tendons to bone. The first application of BioHesive(TM), called OsteoCrete(TM) for human applications, is expected to fill a current void in orthopaedic medical procedures constituting the "next
generation" of bone void filler/cement devices with its bioadhesive, bioabsorbable, biocompatible qualities to more effectively repair, at
lower cost, most non-load-bearing injuries--a potential global market opportunity in excess of $600 million annually. The Company is in the
process of its initial 510(k) filing as a bone void filler for OsteoCrete(TM) with the FDA.
